I can hardly believe where the time has gone. I set up Viking Access on 1st March 2018 and today we have been trading for 2 years.

Since I last published an article in my blog (Sept 2019) we have had a great winter season. The access machinery industry tends to get a little quieter in January and February due to the weather and a lot of planning is done in these months getting projects ready for the spring.

Like the small green shoots that begin to emerge from the darkness of the winter soil, as spring dawns we are heading into our third year of trading with renewed opportunity and the same hunger for growth as I had on day one of setting my business up.

Delivering a service, I can be proud of

One of the most important things at Viking Access is the service our customers receive. We pride ourselves on understanding the access requirement and recommending the right machine for the job.

Taking that one step further, I love those calls from new customers where they have had other access companies in to survey a job and have said “it can’t be done”.

I got the opportunity to work on such a project in January. A new city centre Hotel in Manchester which was due to be signed over the management company from the developer but access to windows and electrical/light fittings had to be proved prior to handover.

We were called in and I facilitated access with one of my Spider fleet. We needed to take the machine up a set of 5 beautifully tiled steps into a very snug, 3 storey open tower reception. This night shift really tested the limits of the machine and of my operating skills but I’m proud to say we delivered.

‘A job very well executed’ even if I do say so myself.

Onwards and upwards

We are looking forward to a busy spring and summer season. The projects are starting to come in and we are looking for new opportunities to grow and develop our fleet. I hope to be able to share with you some exciting news about our newest machine very soon.

But until then, on Viking Access’ second birthday I would like to say thank you to our clients and for those future clients – if you’re looking for a new access company or know anyone who is, I’d love to hear from you.
